Job

Job is the “greatest man among all the people of the east”. Job has a depth of integrity that is acknowledged by God yet unsettles his friends. Job suffers terribly, is in constant pain and many sections of the dialogue are prayers directed towards heaven. Job is humbled of his foolishness around his love for those over the test… but, because Job’s whole life is “over the line” he does not mince any words.
Job's Wife
Jessica Marchi
Job’s wife is glorious in beauty at the start of the film and introduces the narrative to her three beautiful daughters. In her grief she tells Job to “curse God and die”. At the end of the film we see her and Job reconciled with her beautiful children.
Eliphaz
Shane Emmett
In the initial exchanges Eliphaz is humble, quiet endearing and loving and describes a shadow dream experience that gives him a confident, bold perspective. After his initial exchanges Eliphaz becomes increasingly offended, accusing, condemning and a bit of a “know-it-all”.
Bildad
Roberto Zenca
A descendant (or follower) of Shuah, son of Abraham and Keturah, whose family lived in the deserts of Arabia. Bildad is sympathetic, but imploring. He then turns to his companions and starts to "grandstand" before them, airing his opinions. He then develops his speech into an aggressive accusation of Job with a complete disregard of Job's suffering.
Elihu
Tim Lim
Descended from Nahor (Job 32:2, 34:1). He is said to have descended from Buz who may be from the line of Abraham (Genesis 22:20–21 mentions Buz as a nephew of Abraham). Chapters 32 through 37 of the Book of Job consist entirely of Elihu's speech to Job. He is never mentioned again after the end of this speech. Elihu speaks with a boldness and authority that shames his friends into further stunned silence.
Zophar
Ben Brok
Zophar suggests that Job's suffering could be divine punishment. Zophar goes into great detail about the consequences of living a life of sin. Angry, arrogant and without mercy. At one point he starts crying "crocodile tears" with a hand on Job's shoulder. Approaches Job boldly while he lies prostrate on the ground and shouts angry insults as he stands over him.

WHAT IS THE UNIVERSAL STORY
There is something uniquely raw and real about the Book of Job narrative. This ancient text presents a heartbreaking question that perhaps every person can relate to, ‘What do I do when things go wrong?’ I set out to create a film that didn’t sugarcoat Job’s physical, emotional and spiritual pain. I didn’t want to offer a five cent answer to a priceless question, rather my aim was to invite audiences to sit with Job in discomfort as he questions God… and waits for a response.

A stunning original score by Anthony MacDermott with mixing by John Hresc and Peter McNamara, an established award-winning Sydney-based experimental composer. The theme song “My Harp is turned to Mourning" features the talents of Jessica Marchi (Job’s Wife).
